CrossFit, in its simplest form, is a combination of “functional movements, constantly varied, executed at high intensity.” All together, it means a workout designed to keep your body at its best and constantly progressing.

The real definition of CrossFit changes from gym to gym, from person to person. In fact, when someone asked Greg Glassman, founder of CrossFit, Inc., to explain CrossFit, he responded, “What are you doing tomorrow, wanna meet me at the gym at 3 p.m.?” CrossFit isn’t a traditional workout and seeing it in person is the best way to find the answers to your questions. At CF26, CrossFit to us means doing whatever it takes to bring out your best. While our style and atmosphere are laid back, our training and programming are intense. We’ve built our gym, or “box,” around the people who come in and give us their all – the people who invest their time and sweat day in and day out.

Our program is a hybrid system consisting of different training principles, theories and techniques that have been carefully selected to produce unprecedented results. We build our workouts around awareness, mobility, alignment and strength. To us, those are the essential building blocks to a quality fitness program and everything we do at CrossFit 26.

After you join, you really should expect the unexpected. The workout of the day, or WOD, changes every day, so you’ll get an entirely new experience with every visit. We know everyone comes in at different levels and has a different approach to working out, so we keep things laid back to help you focus on training.

Personal records are meant to be beaten, and our focus on body awareness, mobility, alignment and strength helps you get better with every workout. So if you want to find out what CrossFit really is, be fearless – join us to see for yourself.

What does “CrossFit 26” mean?

CrossFit 26 isn’t an everyday name – and we like it that way.
When it comes time to name a new CrossFit box, it has to be original. And we wanted ours to mean something. CrossFit 26 is inspired by iron, “Fe,” the 26th element. Calling back the days of iron barbells and simple strength training, Henry Rollins, lead singer of Black Flag, put it best:

“The Iron never lies to you. You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told that you’re a god or a total bastard. The Iron will always kick you the real deal. The Iron is the great reference point, the all-knowing perspective giver. Always there like a beacon in the pitch black. I have found the Iron to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But two hundred pounds is always two hundred pounds.”

That feeling resonates with everyone at CrossFit 26. While every workout is different, when you walk through our doors, you can expect the same steadfast experience. A challenging program, a supportive environment that keeps us all motivated and focused, and the chance to push yourself to do more than you ever thought possible. No matter what’s going on in the world, that’s what you can expect at CrossFit 26.
